Decarbonising electricity & gas emissions on campus is a strategic priority at FX Plus and is central to our net-zero emission delivery plan. Much work has been undertaken at our Falmouth and Penryn campuses to reduce carbon emissions in recent years, which has resulted in a decrease of 45% since 2005 of scope 1 and 2 carbon emissions relative to gross internal area on Penryn Campus.
Both the University of Exeter and Falmouth University have declared climate emergencies with an ambition to further reduce carbon emissions and achieve the following carbon reduction targets:
- 50% reduction by 2025
- 75% reduction by 2030
- Net zero by 2040
Currently, the implementation of energy efficiency technologies and rooftop solar photovoltaics are prioritised because technologies are established, tried and tested that have no significant constraints to implementation.
