Roof maintenance works will take place on the Peter Lanyon and Falmouth Launchpad buildings from Monday 3 August to Friday 7 August. This work includes vegetation clearance and cleaning of the buildings’ solar (PV) panels.

SERSF and Stella Turk Power Supply Disruption – Thursday 6 August 2026

A planned power supply disruption on Thursday 6 August may temporarily affect building services in the SERSF and Stella Turk buildings between 6pm and 11pm. Systems connected to the Building Management System (BMS), including heating and air conditioning, could experience interruptions of up to 30 minutes.

If you have any questions, please contact the Estates Helpdesk on 01326 255686 or EstatesHelpdesk@fxplus.ac.uk.

Estates Helpdesk Closed for One Hour – Tuesday 11 August, 14:00pm-15:00pm

The Estates Helpdesk, located in the Information Building near the Exchange Courtyard, will be closed for one hour on Tuesday 11 August, from 14:00pm-15:00pm. During this time, contractors will need to sign in/out at Glasney Lodge and voicemails and emails will be responded to upon reopening at 15:00pm. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Temporary Electrical Shutdown: Peter Lanyon – Monday 17 August 2026

A temporary electrical shutdown is required on the ground floor within the Peter Lanyon building on Monday 17 August.

The power shutdown is expected to last from 8am until 1:30pm and will impact the following areas:

  • The Hub Office (an alternative office space has been booked in Fistral within Tremough House).
  • The temporary tea point: please use the kitchen facilities within Glasney Lodge or within Tremough House during this time.

Only the above areas are expected to be impacted by the shutdown and will not have any power during this time. There will be no impact on the other half of the building or on Falmouth University.

This shutdown is required so the new power distribution board can be reconnected following the previous shutdown on Monday 3 August, as part of ongoing Penryn 2.0 work.

We kindly request that colleagues ensure items are switched off at the end of the day on Friday 14 August, so that items such as fans do not automatically come back on when the power is reconnected and cause a health and safety risk.

Colleagues can book alternative office spaces on Penryn Campus as required. Home-working may be appropriate and colleagues should agree this with their line manager in the usual manner.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused, your understanding and cooperation during this project are greatly appreciated.

To find out more about Penryn 2.0 and for regular lookahead updates please visit the website.

If you have any questions or an urgent issue/concern to report to the team, please contact Penryn2.0@exeter.ac.uk.

The Reading Room & Retreat Room (Penryn Campus Library) Closed – Until September

The summer refurbishment works in Penryn Campus Library are now underway. The Reading Room (Level 2) and Retreat Room are now CLOSED for the duration of the works.

There will also likely be noise disruption throughout the summer in the blue zone of Level 2.

The print journals have now been moved into storage for the summer, but they are still available upon request. Please ask a member of staff for help.

What to expect in September…

The Reading Room will be converted into a multi-purpose study space, with a variety of seating types to suit your needs.

There will be spaces for 1:1 appointments with Academic Skills Advisors, English Language Tutors, and your Subject Librarians.

There will also be a new entrance from the Exchange Courtyard for ease of access.

The Reading Room is also being renamed to “The Study.”

The current Audio-Visual area will be repurposed into a focused study area, with a variety of solo booths for comfortable, low-distraction study.

We’ll also be reconfiguring the shelving in this area to house our print journals collection, for ease of access and browsability.

The AV materials previously in this area have been moved to the Yellow Zone on Level 2 of the library.

Stock Moves

Our collections have also been reconfigures, so some things may not be where you are used to.
Please ask a member of staff if you need help with anything, and thank you for your patience while we get our signage updated.
