May Bank Holiday Service Status & Opening Times – Monday 25 May 2026
Please note that the May Bank Holiday will affect some of our services and opening times. On Monday 25 May, the following FX Plus services will be operating with reduced availability, and some areas will be closed for the day:
Retail and Hospitality
- The Penryn Campus Shop will be open on Monday 25 May from 9:00am–9:00pm, so you can still pick up all your essentials at your convenience.
- All other Food & Drink outlets will be closed during this time.
Sports Centre
- The Sports Centre will be open on Monday 25 May from 8:30am-6:00pm.
Library and Helpdesks
- Penryn Campus library will be open as usual for self-service, but the Student Helpdesk will be closed.
- Falmouth Campus Library and Student Helpdesk will be closed for the day.
Multifaith Chaplaincy
- All Chaplaincy spaces remain open, as per their usual opening times. While there will be no staff or volunteer chaplains present on the Bank Holidays, students and staff are welcome to use the spaces and make themselves at home with a cup of tea or coffee.
Wellbeing Team
The Wellbeing team are closed for Bank Holidays, with usual service resuming on Tuesday morning. If students need help during the closure period, you can visit the need help now page or contact our out of hours team in Glasney Lodge, who are available 24/7.
IT Service Desk
IT Services are closed for Bank Holidays, with usual service resuming at 08:45am on Tuesday morning.

Fox 3 lift (Asset 00231) Temporarily Out of Service – Until Further Notice
The Fox 3 lift (asset 00231) is currently out of service due to a fault. Our contractors have been notified and are working to resolve the issue as soon as possible.

Disruption to Buses – Station Road, Penryn – 5 May to 5 June 2026
Due to what is now an emergency 24 hour road closure on Station Road, Penryn there will be diversions on services leaving Falmouth.
This is now expected to be until the 5th June 2026.
Affected routes: 3, 32, 32A, 33, 42, 69, 69A
Services 3, 32, 32A, 33 leaving Falmouth will be unable to stop to serve Penryn Railway station, opposite Harbour View, or Opposite Packsaddle Estate. Buses will divert via Kernick Road and the A39 between Penryn Campus/Treliever Roundabout (32).
This is particularly affecting those using the bus services from the train station and the Sidings. For full details please visit the Transport for Cornwall website.
Archives & Special Collections Closed for Remote Access Only – Monday 11 May to early September
Due to the installation of a new ventilation and monitoring system, there will be no access to the Archives & Special Collections from 11 May until early September.
• The Archives and Special Collections will not be available to access during this period.
• There will be no reading room appointments, however the Archives team will continue to support enquiries remotely – please email archives@fxplus.ac.uk.
Rosehill Meeting Room 1 Out of Use – Until Further Notice

Reduced Parking in Car Park E – Monday 13 April to Wednesday 30 September 2026

Construction to Beetle Sheds – Monday 20 April to Tuesday 25 August 2026
Construction works to create a new freezer archive on the site of the existing beetle sheds, opposite the rear entrance to CSM, will begin on Monday 20 April. The work is estimated to complete by Tuesday 25 August. Due to the nature of the works, noise is expected during the construction period. Please also take extra care when using the access road to the rear of DDM. ESI Boat Shed Closed for Reconfiguration – Tuesday 21 April to Monday 15 June 2026

Closure of the B009_D-318 Research Lab within DDM level 3 – Tuesday 21 April to Wednesday 15 July 2026
The B009_D-318 Research Lab within DDM level 3 will be closed for refurbishment. During this time, the surrounding corridors will remain open but will be used by both contractors and campus users.
You may experience minor delays in this area while contractors move materials. On occasion, short, managed corridor closures may be required to move large equipment. These will be kept as brief as possible.

Relocation of the Bike Shed and Accessible Parking Bays Outside Peter Lanyon – From Monday 11 May 2026
The bike shed situated outside the Peter Lanyon building will be relocated on Monday 11 May, permanently switching locations with the current accessible parking bays. The relocation will allow for improved pedestrianising in the inner courtyard outside Peter Lanyon.
We kindly ask that all items are removed from the bike shed by Sunday 10 May, ready for it to be moved the following day. The accessible parking bays will relocate to the current position of the bike shed.
Please note there will be no accessible parking available at Peter Lanyon on Monday 11 May while the facilities are relocated.
Signage is already in place to make users aware of the planned relocation. Any bikes left in the shed will be removed by Safety and Support, in line with the Abandoned Bikes Removal Procedure to allow works to proceed. Noise Disruption Affecting Areas of Tremough House and Tremough House Annex Bridge – Extended to Friday 8 May 2026
The Estates team will be carrying out essential works in the outdoor area beneath the Tremough House and Tremough House Annex bridge between now and 8 May (estimated completion date), between the hours of 8:00am and 5:00pm.
The works involve the removal of an out of use hot water tank, which will require the use of specialist cutting equipment. While steps will be taken to minimise disruption—including the use of protective welding screens—some noise is unavoidable during this time.

Closure of Ground Floor Kitchen, Peter Lanyon – 18:00pm Friday 8 May until September
Due to the University of Exeter’s Penryn 2.0 project, the Peter Lanyon ground floor kitchen will be temporarily closed and out of action. Once the work is complete, the fully refurbished kitchen and breakout space will be accessible for all. We kindly ask that all personal items are removed from the kitchen area by Friday 8 May, as after this date there will be no access to the kitchen and all remaining items will be discarded.

Closure of Peter Lanyon East – Monday 11 May to Thursday 27 August 2026
Due to the University of Exeter’s Penryn 2.0 project construction works, from Monday 11 May, through to Thursday 27 August, Peter Lanyon East will be closed, including Lecture Theatres 1-4. Peter Lanyon West remains open, however disabled access to this area is via Peter Lanyon East. Disabled access to the first floor via the lift can be maintained and will be managed by the contractor. Service users requiring to use the lift will be escorted by the contractor through the controlled area. Closure of the Female Toilets & Accessible WC, Ground Floor, Peter Lanyon – 17 May to 11 June 2026
As part of the University of Exeter’s Penryn 2.0 project, some temporary toilet closures are required in the Peter Lanyon building.
The following facilities on the ground floor will be closed from 17 May to 11 June 2026:
- Female toilets (B018E‑001)
- Accessible WC (B018E‑003)
Throughout this period, the nearest alternative facilities can be found:
- Toilets in the Institute of Photography (IoP)
- Toilets on the first floor of the Peter Lanyon building
- The nearest accessible WC is located on the ground floor of the adjoining IoP building

Chilled Water and Constant Temperature Water shutdown within the Peter Lanyon Building – Monday 18 May 2026
As part of the Penryn 2.0 project work, there is going to be a Chilled Water and Constant Temperature Water shutdown within the Peter Lanyon building on Monday 18 May. The shutdown is scheduled to take place in the morning and will last for approximately half a day, impacting the entire Peter Lanyon building. This means the heating and cooling system will not be working during this time period. Water from the taps will not be impacted.
Our contractors advise that there will be minimal impact on colleagues and students, however colleagues can book alternative office spaces on Penryn Campus during the period as required. Home-working may be appropriate and colleagues should agree this with their line manager in the usual manner.

University of Exeter Pre-Applicant Open Day – 1,800 additional visitors – Wednesday 27 May 2026
On Wednesday 27 May, it is the University of Exeter’s, Penryn Campus Open Day. We anticipate around 1,800 additional visitors on campus during this time and the car parks will be extremely busy, with Car Parks D and E in sole use for the Open Day. These will be managed by campus Safety and Support.
The Open Day will be run from the Lower Stannary and you will see a higher volume of footfall and noise disruption in this area.
If you are traveling to campus, please consider car sharing or use public transport where practical.

Fox 3 Hub Reconfiguration Project – Access Restrictions from 1 June to September 2026
The Fox 3 Hub Reconfiguration project, a complete refurbishment of the space, will begin on Monday 1 June through to September 2026. Throughout the duration of the building works, there will no access to the following areas:
- The Hub, F013-049
- Hub 1-7
- Kitchen and store
- Office, F013-016
- Accessible W.C, F013-014
- Meeting Room, F013-021
- Lower Courtyard, F013-005
- Corridor, F013-025

From Saturday 1 August through to September 2026, there will also be no access to the below space in Fox 1, including Studio F011-008, as part of the same project:

What else do you need to know?
- Expect noise disruption throughout adjacent spaces
- There will be power disruptions when the work is underway, however these will be communicated separately ahead of time and identify the affected areas.
- The internal link between Fox 4 and Fox 3 will be closed from 1 June through to September 2026.
- Our contractor’s external compound will be located in Fox 4 carpark, and the number of available spaces will be reduced.
- Contractors will be entering the building to access the building site in Fox 3 from Fox 4 main entrance.

Road Closure to the Rear of Daphne Du Maurier, Penryn Campus – 1-15 June 2026
Due to Penryn 2.0 project works, the access road behind the Daphne du Maurier Building and alongside Car Park E will be closed from the morning of Monday 1 June to Monday 15 June.
The area will be clearly cordoned off. However, deliveries will still be able to access the delivery bays via this road during this period.
All other access to and from the affected areas should be made via the lane between the Sports Centre and Car Park E.

Exchange Pods, Reading Room and Knowledge Vault Upgrades – Mid-June to September 2026
We will be upgrading the Exchange Pods, Reading Room and Knowledge Vault starting in mid-June (estimated), as part of the programme of works taking place over the summer. During this time there will be no access to the spaces and the corridor to the Knowledge Vault will also be closed. This notice provides advanced warning of the closures and will be updated when an exact date is confirmed. Thank you for your understanding while we make these improvements.

Fire Alarm Testing at Falmouth and Penryn Campuses
Penryn Campus testing: Fridays 7:30am to 9:00am.
The bell will sound for a few seconds so please take no action and do not evacuate the building at this signal. If you cannot hear the alarm in your area, please inform Safety and Support on 01326 255875. Should the bell continue to sound, please assume it is a real alarm and evacuate accordingly. Please obey alarms at all other times.
