Part of the underpass and steps between the Exchange and the Design Centre, along with three bike racks, will be cordoned off on Wednesday 18 March through to the end of April, to allow for scaffolding. Alternative bike stands are available at the Sports Centre. Please ensure all bikes are removed from the affected racks by 18:00pm on Tuesday 17 March. Any bikes remaining in the affected stands when the work begins at 8:00am will need to be removed as per the abandoned bike policy. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

Please be advised that our PAT testing contractor will be attending the following areas to carry out annual Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) between the dates shown below.

During this time there may be brief interruptions whilst equipment is tested. The contractor will endeavour to keep any disruption to a minimum.

Construction works to create a new freezer archive on the site of the existing beetle sheds, opposite the rear entrance to CSM, will begin on Monday 20 April. The work is estimated to complete by Tuesday 25 August. Due to the nature of the works, noise is expected during the construction period. Please also take extra care when using the access road to the rear of DDM. The B009_D-318 Research Lab within DDM level 3 will be closed for refurbishment. During this time, the surrounding corridors will remain open but will be used by both contractors and campus users. 

You may experience minor delays in this area while contractors move materials. On occasion, short, managed corridor closures may be required to move large equipment. These will be kept as brief as possible.

Due to the maintenance work being undertaken on the roof of the ESI External Plantroom, scaffolding needs to be transported via scissor lift, up the side of the ESI building.  

While the works are underway, please can all campus users ensure that they remain outside the barriered areas. Please note that there may be some minor disruption to traffic whilst the scissor lift is installed outside the building. Minimal noise disruption consistent with the use of machinery and scaffolding is also to be expected.  

Important dates are as follows: 

• Scissor lift to be delivered on Monday 27 April  

• Works to install scaffold will take place on Tuesday 28 April 

Please be aware that the positioning of this work (marked green or red in the image below) is weather dependant, and may be subject to change, due to unforeseen complications, and working with external contractors.

On Thursday 30 April, the large sliding doors on the ground floor of the Exchange Building (next to the Career Zone) will be out of use. Please use the revolving doors for entry instead. On Tuesday 5 May, the double swing doors to the Lower Stannary (opposite the doctor’s surgery) will be closed all day while essential repairs are carried out.

Please access the Lower Stannary via the sliding doors opposite the Students’ Union. The nearest accessible route is via the doors at the front of the Stannary, next to the bar. Due to the Penryn 2.0 project construction works, Peter Lanyon East (Excluding Lecture Theatres 1-4) will be closed from Monday 11 May through to Thursday 27 August. Peter Lanyon West remains open, however disabled access to this area is via Peter Lanyon East. Disabled access to the first floor via the lift can be maintained and will be managed by the contractor. Service users requiring to use the lift will be escorted by the contractor through the controlled area. If you have any questions or concerns about this, please contact the Estates Helpdesk on 01326 255686 or EstatesHelpdesk@fxplus.ac.uk. 

As part of the Penryn 2.0 project, some temporary toilet closures are required in the Peter Lanyon building.

The following facilities on the ground floor will be closed from 17 May to 11 June 2026:

• Female toilets (B018E‑001)
• Accessible WC (B018E‑003)

Throughout this period, the nearest alternative facilities can be found:

• Toilets in the Institute of Photography (IoP)

• Toilets on the first floor of the Peter Lanyon building

• The nearest accessible WC is located on the ground floor of the adjoining IoP building

On Wednesday 27 May, it is the University of Exeter’s, Penryn Campus Open Day. We anticipate around 1,800 additional visitors on campus during this time and the car parks will be extremely busy, with Car Parks D and E in sole use for the Open Day. These will be managed by campus Safety and Support.  

The Open Day will be run from the Lower Stannary and you will see a higher volume of footfall and noise disruption in this area. 

If you are traveling to campus, please consider car sharing or use public transport where practical.
