Driving and Parking

Penryn Campus car parking

Although parking is available at Penryn Campus, all visitors are encouraged to use alternative methods of transport and avoid driving wherever possible, to help reduce the impact that travel and transport has on the environment. Alternatives include buses, the Falmouth to Truro railway branch line (which stops at Penryn), cycling and walking.

Please refer to the First Bus website for further information, including bus timetables and information regarding flexible tickets.

Visitor Parking

If you are a visitor or will only be using our car parks for occasional use, we operate a pay as you leave system. The Penryn Campus uses an Automated Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) system and pay stations are available in convenient locations across our campus carparks. On leaving the campus, when the appropriate tariff has been paid, the barriers will rise automatically on exit.

Parking Permits for Staff & Students

Staff and students may be eligible for a parking permit for an annual fee. You can apply for a permit using our Online Application and Payment Portal from the 1st of August 2024, for the permit period commencing 1st September 2024/25.

Please be aware that all permits will require a processing period. Applicants must pay to exit the car park until their permit has been processed. Please allow 14 days for processing. Staff and students are therefore advised to submit their application as early as possible.

Streatham/St Luke’s University of Exeter Permits are also valid at Penryn Campus. Users are required to register their vehicle registration number by emailing parking.reservations@fxplus.ac.uk.

Please note that those who hold parking permits are not always guaranteed a space on campus, particularly at busy times.

Electric Vehicle Charging at Penryn Campus

There are twelve Electric Vehicle (EV) chargers available in car park A at Penryn Campus. All EV owners, students, staff and visitors, are welcome to use these.

The chargers are supplied by ‘pod-point’ and access to the chargers is managed via the pod-point app.  Information on how to charge can be found on the pod-point themselves and here. The charger types are 7kw-type 2 socket.

Pricing in pence/kWh for vehicle charging is set as a pass through of the price paid for the main supply to campus. This is updated each September.

The EV charging spaces are not parking spaces, they are for vehicle’s actively charging only. Any vehicles found to contravene this will be penalised and issued a Penalty Charge Notice. Please refer to the campus Car Parking Policy for full details.
