The 1st Floor Design Centre lift within the Fashion and Textiles Institute, Penryn campus, is temporarily out of service. Our contractors have been made aware and we hope to get this fixed as soon as possible. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your patience.

While we work to extend the IT Suite in Daphne Du Maurier (DDM) 3038, please be aware that site waste disposal will take place on Friday’s between 16:00pm to 18:00pm. This means our contractors will be removing building waste via the internal access stairs down to the Exchange Courtyard and exit out the front to skips located in the parking bays to the left of the Welcome Building. Please be mindful of our contractors and be aware that access routes may be affected whilst this work takes place, but the lift will remain accessible. Thank you for your patience and cooperation.

Due to repairs and the new installation of balustrades to the Italian Garden, there will be restricted access to the roads surrounding the Italian gardens. Between Tuesday 24 June and Friday 11 July, there will be no pedestrian or vehicular access from 8am until 6pm, Monday to Friday.

Access will be provided to authorised vehicles only (i.e. garden stores). Alternative routes to Tremough house are available from the AMATA footpath/road with onward pedestrian access around the rear/side of the chapel lecture theatre to all other campus areas.

Work is taking place in Daphne du Maurier (DDM) to create a new 30 person IT suite (3038), that interconnects with room 3037 so that there is sufficient space for 65 people and the rooms can be used concurrently as a larger suite.

This work will impact rooms 3037 and 3038, the access stairs from Exchange Courtyard to DDM spine and areas surrounding the rooms. Please note that the rooms will be closed for the duration of the work, and access will be limited after 4pm between floors via access stairs.

As the internal strip out of DDM 3037 and breaking through to 3038 is now underway (16 June), some noise and dust is expected throughout. The affected areas are DDM3, in and around 3037 and 3038, and DDM2 may also experience some noise. Our contractors are attempting to keep this to a minimal and will be cleaning up daily. Please be aware that the internal access stairs are being used, however for the duration of the work the removal of building waste will be limited to after 16:00pm on a Friday afternoon.

The refurbishments are part of the Penryn 2.0 project that aims to enhance infrastructure to build on strengths in research excellence and the potential for student growth in Cornwall.

Lecture Theatre A & B in the Daphne Du Maurier building will be closed to allow contractors to complete the AV Refresh, installing replacement end-of-life hardware and functionality improvements ready for the start of term.

For the next couple of weeks, the external cleaning of all academic buildings, including walls, windows and paved areas, will commence at Penryn campus. The daily cleaning will take place between 7:00am and 20:00pm, starting on Wednesday 25 June. It is estimated to complete on Monday 14 July.
Please be aware that whilst the work takes place some areas will be coned off, restricting access as the team moves around the buildings. A cherry picker and pressure washers will be used which will generate a moderate level of noise in areas they are working. For part of the work, a cherry picker will be on the road and this will be segregated with barriers to ensure safety.
Please be aware that as the team moves from building to building, some routes may be temporarily closed off. Signage will be in place to guide you to the best available routes. Thank you for your patience while work to keep campus clean.

The Fox 4 Ground Floor and Fox 4 Car Park will be closed from Monday 30 June to Friday 17 August, as we carry out work to update the ceiling tiles and lighting system. Please use an alternative space and car park during this time. Thank you for your cooperation whilst we make these improvements.

The Woodlane Kitchen at Falmouth campus will be closed from Thursday 3 July to Monday 8 August for essential maintenance. This means that our hot food service and breakfast service will be unavailable. We will also be unable to offer sausage rolls and pasties during this time. However, the Fox café will be open as usual serving drinks, sandwiches and hot paninis.

We will be carrying out work to change the compressed air system in CSM plantroom 3. This will affect compressed air to the DDM labs. A smaller unit will still be operational; however, having the main compressor out of action could result in a reduction in air pressure. With lower usage of the facility at this time of year, it is hoped that users will experience little to no impact.

The Games Academy on Kernick Industrial Estate will be closed all day, 9:00am to 17:00pm, on Monday 7 July, for electrical maintenance.

The Chapel Lecture Theatre will be undergoing refurbishment works from Monday 7 July until Friday 12 September. This will mean restricted access (pedestrian and vehicular) in and around the Chapel Lecture Theatre and no access into the Chapel Lecture Theatre whilst the work takes place.

Between Monday 7 and Wednesday 9 July, the seating will be removed and there will be barriers in place to restrict public movement in and around the space. During this time, a skip will be located externally adjacent to the Chapel Lecture Theatre. Please consult signage in the area indicating any closed routes.

The lift in the SoFT Building is temporarily out of service. Unfortunately, due to other works taking place affecting other accessible routes, there is no internal accessible route for SoFT at this time. Our contractors have been made aware and we hope to get this fixed as soon as possible. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your patience.

The new CSM sign is being installed adjacent to the main campus road near to CSM, on Friday 11 July, 8:00am – 17:30pm. The loading bays near to SERSF/CSM and main campus road leading to car parks will be affected. There will be a lifting operation taking place which will require traffic management on the main campus road. Any delays will be kept to a minimum. There will be diversions to pedestrian routes in the area, please follow signage.
