Sustainability matters
We pride ourselves on an ethical and environmentally conscious approach to catering and actively engage with our suppliers in order to improve our sustainability.
The café has been built using sustainable material choices, including Forest Stewardship Council certified timber, and furniture fabric made from up-cycled, discarded ocean plastic.
The power provided to the café is 100% renewable electricity, to help reduce the campus’ carbon emissions. Packaging and cutlery
There are no single-use plastic bottles or disposable cups for sale in the Sustainability Café. We encourage you to drink in the café or use reusable cups for take away. We have a range of reusable lidded cups for sale, and if you buy one from us, your first hot drink is complimentary.
Our milk is from Trewithen Dairy, Cornwall and dairy-free alternatives are available to suit various tastes and dietary needs. Please talk to us about your preference.
Trewithen milk is dispensed from our milk pergal, which is used for our coffee and tea service. This significantly reduces the use of single-use plastic milk bottles traditionally used. We also sell refillable milk bottles, which reduces your plastic use.
Where possible our disposables (cutlery and takeaway packaging) are environmentally friendly – either compostable, biodegradable or recyclable.
The sustainability of our products is of great importance to us which is why we try to use local suppliers for our meat, fruit, and vegetables wherever possible in all our units.
Hot Drink Loyalty Card
Collect a hot drink loyalty card for use in any outlet on campus. A complete loyalty card (10 stamps) can be redeemed for any regular hot drink or iced coffee. Terms and conditions apply.
