Welcome to the Sustainability Cafe

On the first floor of the Stannary extension, you’ll find the new Sustainability Café with spectacular views across the surrounding area and to the sea.

With contemporary indoor and outdoor balcony seating, the team warmly welcomes you to enjoy fresh, seasonal food and drink in a light, relaxed setting.

Local or south-west suppliers are sourced for our bread, milk, fruit, cakes, confectionery and vegetables whenever possible, and we support and sell Fairtrade goods including coffee, bananas, chocolate, biscuits and sugar.

Sustainability matters

We pride ourselves on an ethical and environmentally conscious approach to catering and actively engage with our suppliers in order to reduce our adverse environmental impact.

The Café has been built using sustainable material choices, including Forest Stewardship Council certified timber, and furniture fabric made from up-cycled discarded ocean plastic.

The power provided to the Café is 100% renewable electricity, to help reduce the campuses’ direct carbon emissions.

Dine in

Start your day with an appetising breakfast of Cornish-made pancakes. We are proud to serve quality Cornish Coffee and Cornish Tregothnan loose leaf teas. Choose from a tempting selection of cakes including vegan options, made by The Exploding Bakery in Devon.

At lunchtime, enjoy a slice of vegetarian quiche or vegan pie, baked by Devonshire bakers, Peck and Strong. Our organic vegan/vegetarian soup is made by Rod and Ben’s in Exeter, who only use locally sourced ingredients.

Our freshly prepared baguettes and local rolls are made locally by Prima Bakeries in Redruth. Choose from various flavoursome fillings, and enjoy your baguette plated with seasonal salad and vegetable crisps.

Packaging and cutlery

We care about the impact we have on the environment.

There are no single-use plastic bottles or disposable cups for sale in the Sustainability Café. We encourage you to drink in the Café or use reusable cups. We have a range of reusable lidded cups for sale, and if you purchase one from us, your first hot drink is complimentary.

Our milk is from Trewithen Dairy, Cornwall and dairy-free alternatives are available to suit various tastes and dietary needs. Please talk to us about your preference.

Trewithen milk is dispensed from our milk pergal, which is used for our coffee and tea service. This significantly reduces the use of single-use plastic milk bottles traditionally used. We also retail refillable milk bottles, which reduces plastic use amongst our customers.
