The Walled Garden on Penryn Campus is currently closed. While repairs to the masonry wall are complete, carpentry work to refresh the greenhouse has now begun. For safety reasons, there will be no access to the garden during this period.

Recent wet weather has delayed progress, meaning the project timeline has been extended. We currently expect the work to be completed by the end of March; however, this is highly dependent on weather conditions and may change.

Part of the underpass and steps between the Exchange and the Design Centre, along with three bike racks, will be cordoned off on Wednesday 18 March through to the end of April, to allow for scaffolding. Alternative bike stands are available at the Sports Centre. Please ensure all bikes are removed from the affected racks by 18:00pm on Tuesday 17 March. Any bikes remaining in the affected stands when the work begins at 8:00am will need to be removed as per the abandoned bike policy. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

The exit doors from the AMATA Café leading to the external area will be closed from Monday 30 March until Wednesday 8 April to allow essential landscaping and paving works to take place. 

Please follow the signed diversion route and use the alternative exit during this time.

We’re carrying out essential maintenance to replace the wired and wireless network equipment in Glasney Student Village and Tuke House.

What you need to know

• Contractors will be replacing hardware in flat corridors between 09:00 and 18:00 from 30 March – 10 April.

• Internet access will be unavailable per block for up to 3 hours and again at a different time and date for up to 30 minutes while the work is being carried out.

• Upon completion, your devices will automatically reconnect to the network.

Please see the schedule outlining the date and time of the maintenance for each block below.

We endeavor to deliver this maintenance to the planned schedule, however in the event of any changes, we will notify residents as soon as possible.

If you require internet access during the planned maintenance window, please use an alternative space on campus while your block’s work is in progress.

The escape staircase from the Stannary Bar, opposite the Tremough House Annex, will be closed from Monday 30 March to Friday 24 April while it is demolished and replaced. 

The work will take place throughout the Easter break. No work will take place on bank holidays or during the Falmouth University Open Days on 8 and 22 April. 

Please be aware that noisy construction activity is expected at times due to the demolition and rebuilding. For the duration of the work, due to health and safety, the capacity for the Stannary Bar will be reduced to a maximum of 60 people. This has been agreed with the bar manager and the fire safety team.

From 5:30pm on Thursday 2 April until Sunday 5 April, the road leading to the Sports Centre will be closed from the bend opposite Car Park E, near the speed ramps and the Sports Centre car park. This is to replace the two speed bumps.

During this period: 

• No vehicle access will be available to and from the Sports Centre car parks.
• Sports Centre users will need to use Car Park E and walk to the Sports Centre.

• Access to the cottages will be maintained. Users will be re-routed through the back road.

Due to essential electrical maintenance work, the ESI Building will undergo a planned power outage on Tuesday 7 April, between 8:00am–9:00am, while the FX Plus teams connect the building to a generator. During this time, the building will remain closed and will have a delayed opening of 9:00am, when power to the building will be restored. Due to essential electrical maintenance work and a planned power outage, the Peter Lanyon building will remain closed on Tuesday 7 April, 8:00am–17:00pm. Service managers of the spaces have been made aware, and all rooms will be unavailable for the day. The toilets in the Daphne Du Maurier Seminar Space will be closed for scheduled painting work on Thursday 9 April and Friday 10 April 2026. 

• Thursday 9 April: Toilets will be closed while decorators prepare the area. They will reopen once work is completed that day. 

• Friday 10 April: Toilets will be closed for the full day while painting is finished.

Please be advised that our PAT testing contractor will be attending the following areas to carry out annual Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) between the dates shown below.

Essential network maintenance is required to replace end-of-life infrastructure. This work is planned between 07:30 and 08:30 on Thursday 16 April impacting the network for approximately 10 minutes across the Penryn and Falmouth campuses.

On campus impact – disruption to the below:

• Internet access (wired, wireless and VPN) across Falmouth and Penryn campuses, including Glasney Student Village, Tuke House and Tremough Barton Cottages.
• IT Suites
• Guest wi-fi.
• Phones (including KSPA).
• Printing services.
• Sports Centre bookings.

Mitigation Options:

Falmouth / FX Plus / SU: Cloud services i.e. M365 including Teams, OneDrive and Outlook can be accessed via your mobile data if based on site.

• If based at home, VPN access may be disrupted, however Cloud services i.e. M365 including, Teams, OneDrive and Outlook will still be accessible.

University of Exeter: For internet access during this change window, please connect to wi-fi using Eduroam or UoE Secure.

Construction works to create a new freezer archive on the site of the existing beetle sheds, opposite the rear entrance to CSM, will begin on Monday 20 April. The work is estimated to complete by Tuesday 25 August. Due to the nature of the works, noise is expected during the construction period. Please also take extra care when using the access road to the rear of DDM. The B009_D-318 Research Lab within DDM level 3 will be closed for refurbishment. During this time, the surrounding corridors will remain open but will be used by both contractors and campus users. 

You may experience minor delays in this area while contractors move materials. On occasion, short, managed corridor closures may be required to move large equipment. These will be kept as brief as possible.
