Service Status & Opening Times

The 1st Floor Design Centre lift within the Fashion and Textiles Institute, Penryn campus, is temporarily out of service. Our contractors have been made aware and we hope to get this fixed as soon as possible. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your patience.

While we work to extend the IT Suite in Daphne Du Maurier (DDM) 3038, please be aware that site waste disposal will take place on Friday’s between 16:00pm to 18:00pm. This means our contractors will be removing building waste via the internal access stairs down to the Exchange Courtyard and exit out the front to skips located in the parking bays to the left of the Welcome Building. Please be mindful of our contractors and be aware that access routes may be affected whilst this work takes place, but the lift will remain accessible. Thank you for your patience and cooperation.

Due to repairs and the new installation of balustrades to the Italian Garden, there will be restricted access to the roads surrounding the Italian gardens. The work will take place in two phases and there will be no pedestrian or vehicular access from 8am until 6pm, Monday to Friday, between these dates:

• Phase 1 – Commencing Monday 9 June and completing on Wednesday 18 June. 
• Phase 2 – Commencing on Tuesday 24 June and completing on Friday 11 July. 

Access will be provided to authorised vehicles only (i.e. garden stores). Alternative routes to Tremough house are available from the AMATA footpath/road with onward pedestrian access around the rear/side of the chapel lecture theatre to all other campus areas.

The Fox 4 Car park at Falmouth campus will be closed the week commencing Monday 16 June as we install a new pedestrian pathway at the barrier entrance. Due to the work, there will be no vehicular access to the car park or the bottom of the site. The work is estimated to take 4-5 days. During this time, please use an alternative car park. A route for pedestrians will still be available. Please follow the signage in place. Thank you for your cooperation and patience while we carry out this work.

From Monday 16 June we will be begin resurfacing the road at the main entrance as you drive onto Penryn campus. Due to the work, temporary traffic lights will be in place to manage the flow of traffic on and off the campus. We hope that disruption to traffic will be minimal but please consider allowing a little additional time to get to and from campus when driving. Pedestrian access will be retained, but please follow any local signage. Thank you for your patience whilst the necessary repair work takes place. It is hoped works will be completed with 3 weeks.

Due to rooftop vegetation clearance taking place on the Peter Lanyon building from Monday 16 to Wednesday 25 June, from 8:00am to 17:00pm, some areas around the building will be restricted and we will be operating a regulated pedestrian exclusion zone. Pedestrian access will still be possible, please follow the local signage and do not enter the restricted areas.

Due to work taking place on the Exchange Courtyard main entrance doors (leading out to the contractor/visitor car park and information building) on Thursday 19 June, from 9:00am to 17:00pm, a diversion through Exchange Courtyard 4 will be in place. Please use the alternative route and follow the local signage.

Please be aware that the ground floor ESI interactive space B035-031, the main space where the café is, may experience some noise disruption on Friday 20 June, from 11:00am to 16:30pm. This is due to works on the single exit door leading to inner courtyard having a new maglock installed. The space will still be usable and access to the outer courtyard will be from around the building out of the main double door set leading into ESI.

Work is taking place in Daphne du Maurier (DDM) to create a new 30 person IT suite (3038), that interconnects with room 3037 so that there is sufficient space for 65 people and the rooms can be used concurrently as a larger suite.

This work will impact rooms 3037 and 3038, the access stairs from Exchange Courtyard to DDM spine and areas surrounding the rooms. Please note that the rooms will be closed for the duration of the work, and access will be limited after 4pm between floors via access stairs.

As the internal strip out of DDM 3037 and breaking through to 3038 is now underway (16 June), some noise and dust is expected throughout. The affected areas are DDM3, in and around 3037 and 3038, and DDM2 may also experience some noise. Our contractors are attempting to keep this to a minimal and will be cleaning up daily. Please be aware that the internal access stairs are being used, however for the duration of the work the removal of building waste will be limited to after 16:00pm on a Friday afternoon.

The refurbishments are part of the Penryn 2.0 project that aims to enhance infrastructure to build on strengths in research excellence and the potential for student growth in Cornwall.

Localised groundworks will begin adjacent to the Stella Turk and CSM buildings on Wednesday 18 June from 8:00am and are estimated to complete on Thursday 19 June at 16:00pm. The work will result in an increase in contractor vans on site, plus movement and fencing around the area. There may be some adjustments and diversion to pedestrian access. Please follow the local signage. Thank you for your cooperation and patience while the work takes place.

We will be carrying out work to replace the counter in Peter Lanyon, Photography Stores with a new counter/desk that staff can sit and work at whilst serving customers. The work will start at 8:00am on Monday 23 June and end on Friday 27 June at 17:00pm. Some noise from the installation and limited access around the installation area is to be expected.

Lecture Theatre A & B in the Daphne Du Maurier building will be closed to allow contractors to complete the AV Refresh, installing replacement end-of-life hardware and functionality improvements ready for the start of term.

Tremough House and Annex will be closed on Monday 30 June 2025, from 8:30am until 17:00, to complete essential electrical works.

There will be no power or data/ Wi-Fi provision within Tremough house and Annex for the duration the works, therefore for health and safety reasons there will be no access to the building. The Wi-Fi and data provision to the Animal facility and SONVA building will also be affected, building owners are aware of this service disruption.

For staff members based in Tremough house and Annex alternative office working arrangements will need to be made. Thank you for your cooperation and patience while this work takes place.
