I’m feeling homesick. What should I do?

First of all, lots and lots of students feel homesick at some point –it’s normal. You may be a long way from home (or not), missing people, a bit shocked by the change, perhaps you felt under pressure to come to Uni in the first place… some of these feelings may have come as a surprise.

To help yourself, please get involved with activities if you can; try and get out of your room and walk around, remind yourself of why you chose to come here, meet your flatmates and coursemates as soon as you can. Talk to people at home and stay connected.

Please feel free to come in and talk to us at Student Support for support, advice and guidance.

The most important thing is to come and speak with Student Support, as you will feel worse, the more alone and isolated you feel.  We can discuss your options in finding a way ahead that is right for you.
